Fredericton Defeats Saint John 6-5 Sunday Evening

Saint John: The Fredericton Hilltop Budlights took a 6-5 win over the Saint John Blackhawks on Sunday evening here at the LBR.

Joel Leitner, Joel Walker, Chris Rose, Adam Bradley, Chris Gardiner and Denzel Issac each fired single goals to guide Fredericton on the scoresheet. Chris Fearneley had the win in goal making 25 saves.

Tyson Gillam and Darren Jeans each scored twice for Saint John, Josh Moore had a solo tally, Mark Marshall suffered the loss in goal making 33 saves.

Oliver - George Power Silverkings

Blacks Harbour : David Oliver and Rene George each fired hat tricks to lead the Blacks Harbour Silverkings to a 9-3 win over the Nackawic Hawks on Sat. evening at Fundy Arena.

Thatcher Bell scored twice and Drew Power had a single to round out the Silverkings scoring. Aaron Molnar and Todd Baird shared goaltending duties.

Kyle Gailey scored a pair of goals for the Hawks while Jarrett Paul had a solo marker. Jordan Mean suffered the loss in goal.

Thrashers Sat. Contest Postponed Due to Influenza

St. Andrews : Tonights game betweent the Saint John Blackhawks @ St. Andrews Thrashers has been postponed due to and outbreak of the Influenza

Seahawks & Thrashers Start New Year with Wins

St. Stephen : The St. Stephen Seahawks handed the Saint John Blackhawks a 10-4 setback on Fri. evening at the Border Arena.

Shawn Mersereau scord 3 times to lead the Seahawks on the night. Adam Nelson and Dave Geris had a pair of goals each, while Darcy Tuplin, Sean Turner and Jeff Gregor also found the back of the net.

Alex McDermott, Ryan Ouelette, Kamil Forgie and Seth Bowen answered for the Blackhawks.

Nackawic: The St. Andrews Thrashers picked up a 10-3 win in Nackawic on Fri. evening.

Craig Soke scored 3 times to power the Thrashers attack. Jeff Wilson checked in with a pair of goals while Luc Weatherbie, Warren Toole, Ryan Burgonye, Luc Cormier and Kyle Werner had solo efforts.

Jarrett Paul had a pair of goals for the Hawks while Kyle Gailey had a lone marker.


Jarrett Paul Named Player of the Week

Fredericton: Jarrett Paul of the Nackawic Hawks has been named the Southern Hockey League Bud Light player of the week.

Paul has put together a dynamic season thus far for the second-year Nackawic organization. He now has nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points and one game winning goal.



Rene George Named Player of the Month

Fredericton: Rene George of the streaking Black’s Harbour Silverkings collected accolades from the Southern Hockey League for his efforts on the ice. George, who leads the SHL in scoring, was named the SHL’s Bud Light player of the month.

The Silverkings won all five games in December, led by George. The forward has even numbers of 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points and a two point cushion over Nackawic’s Matt Seymour, who has 34 points. George’s 18 goals leave him 1 behind Kyle Gailey of the Nackawic Hawks in the offensive category.
